In Miss Mackenzie's art class, 3s students had a chance to make a fun springtime craft... melted ice cream cones! Using a special puffy paint, students created a colorful pool of ice cream and added a paper cone in the center. They then topped the project off with shimmery sprinkles! Over the past month, kindergarteners have witnessed firsthand the development of baby chicks. They learned the difference between oviparous (egg-laying) animals and viviparous (live birth) animals, how the eggs needed to be kept warm in the incubator, and watched with excitement as the first chick broke through its shell. Over a few days, four baby chicks hatched and grew right alongside the kindergarteners. Students took turns reading to the chicks, petting the chicks, and learning about their diet and care. After several weeks in kindergarten, the chickens have now graduated and have moved to their permanent home on the farm.
